GST For Modern India

The entire India from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is gearing up to embrace the midnight rollout of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017, popularly known as GST, one of the historic and revolutionary initiatives of all times by the Government of India.

Reminding India’s destiny-changing declaration of freedom at midnight in 1947 from the colonial black forces by the first Prime Minister of the independent India Jawaharlal Nehru, after 60 years of the independence the Government of India led by its dynamic and popular Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to rollout the gigantic initiative of GST towards a modern India in the intervening night of 30th June – 01st July 2017 in a special midnight session of the Parliament.

GST originally conceptualized by another visionary Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, nurtured by the economist Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh, and made a reality by India’s daring Prime Minister Narendra Modi – an initiative of which credit can be claimed by all.

Like any other path breaking initiative in the last three years, GST is also being launched amidst opposition for the sake of opposition by a confused Opposition, which has been disregarded by the majority Indians.

GST is a reason for all Indians to cheer. It has its own limits, minor difficulties and initial teething problems. However, the opportunity it can bring to the economic stability to the business and financial India through uniformity in Indian tax systems is enormous and matchless. GST will re-unite India and boost Indian federalism. GST will drastically reduce corruption across India. GST will be a global case study. GST will draft a new story of economic transparency and financial discipline among Indians. GST will boost Indian Infrastructure development resulting higher GDP. GST is simply going to be a success story scripted, directed and executed in the contemporary India.

Together with millions of proud Indians, I too congratulate the President of India, the Prime Minister, and the Policy Makers for effecting the Central Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 [GST] a reality.
